JEE Main 2022: key findings

  1. 1

33% of the 2022 questions were easy and 14% hard.

  2. 2

36% tested an idea no earlier analysed year had asked.

  3. 3

55% repeated an exact idea from 2021, the analysed year before.

  4. 4

Laws of Motion came 1.4 times a shift (per 25 Physics questions; this year's papers had 30), against its usual 0.8.

  5. 5

Haloalkanes and Haloarenes came 0.7 times a shift, well under its usual 1.5.

  6. 6

The busiest topic was AP and GP (Sequences and Series): 30 questions across 21 of the 24 shifts.

24 shifts held, 24 analysed

Each shift is a separate paper. Lumi analyses a shift when NTA published the full paper and its final answer key.

Repetition and surprises

What came back, and what moved

Repeats count against every earlier analysed year. Chapter moves are questions a shift, per 25 questions a subject, against the chapter's own average across the analysed years.

What 2022 asked, and its history

Every chapter the 24 analysed 2022 shifts asked, with all its topics and ideas. Counts and squares cover every analysed year; rows 2022 did not ask are faded. Each row lists its 2022 questions with the most recent from other years; open a shift for the full question text.

Squares are the 8 years with analysed shifts, 2017 to 2026. A number is the questions that year when there is more than one; the shade is scaled to one shift, so a year with more analysed shifts (1 to 24 a year) does not look darker. Share is of the level above.

Questions

About JEE Main 2022

How many JEE Main 2022 shifts are analysed here?
24 of the 24 shifts held in 2022. Lumi analyses a shift when NTA published the full paper and its final answer key. It covers 108 of the 174 JEE Main shifts held from 2017 to 2026 (9,285 Paper 1 questions), not every shift.
Was JEE Main 2022 harder than 2021?
By Lumi's rating, 14% of the analysed 2022 questions were hard against 10% in 2021, and 33% easy against 34%. Difficulty is a rating, so read small changes as noise.
Which chapters came most in JEE Main 2022?
Conic Sections (74), Three Dimensional Geometry (50), Current Electricity (49), Complex Numbers and Quadratic Equations (47), Organic Chemistry: Some Basic Principles and Techniques (46), across the 24 analysed shifts.
