JEE Main 30 June 2022, Shift 1, Physics Q36

Question 36 of 90 in this shift, Physics question 6 of 30, Section A.

A 2 kg block is pushed against a vertical wall by applying a horizontal force of 50 N. The coefficient of static friction between the block and the wall is 0.5. A force F is also applied on the block vertically upward (as shown in figure). The maximum value of F applied, so that the block does not move upward, will be : (Given : g=10 ms−2\mathrm{ms^{-2}})

The figure, in words

A block labelled '2 kg' touches a vertical hatched wall labelled 'wall'; a horizontal arrow labelled '50 N' points at the block towards the wall; an arrow labelled 'F' points vertically upward from the top of the block.
