JEE Main 6 April 2026, Shift 1, Physics Q29

Question 29 of 75 in this shift, Physics question 4 of 25, Section A.

Two blocks (PP and QQ) with respectively masses 2 kg and 1.5 kg are joined by a massless thread. These blocks are mounted on a frictionless pulley which is fixed on the edge of a cube (SS), as shown in the figure below. Block PP is positioned on the top surface which has no friction and block QQ is in contact with side-surface, having coefficient friction μ\mu. The cube (SS) moves towards the right with acceleration of g2\frac{g}{2}, where gg is gravitational acceleration. During this movement the block PP and QQ remain stationary. The value of μ\mu is ________. (take g=10g=10 m/s2^2)

The figure, in words

Cube S with a frictionless pulley at its top right edge; block P (2 kg) rests on the top surface joined by a thread over the pulley to block Q (1.5 kg) hanging against the right side surface.
